The DCHS art portfolio students had an awesome field trip! We had many different stops and I was proud of the way the students acted! They were engaged and intrigued by the content that each stop provided. The first pit stop was to see the Cyclone sculpture in Codell, that was made by Toby Flores and the FHSU sculpture crew! Secondly we had pancakes and s’more in Paradise provided by my Dad and Lori❤️. Then we found Waldo, and made our way to Lucus where we toured the Grassroots art center, The Garden of Eden, Pilar’s doll house and the Bowl Plaza. On our way to Hays we went to Wilson and gandered at the Giant Czechoslovakian egg! Once we got to Hays Toby gave the students a tour of the whole art dept! It was an awesome day! Nice to get out of the classroom and get reinsured to do cool things!

It was another GREAT DAY to be a RED DEVIL. The Junior High Football team ended their season today with a perfect 7-0 record by defeating Dighton 42-8. This season, the Red Devils outscored their opponents 296-32. The Junior High Volleyball teams also beat Dighton today. Both A and B teams are now 10-2. The NWKL Tournament is Tuesday. The A team will play in St. Francis, and the B Team in Atwood. Not to be outdone, four junior high cross country runners medaled at the Hoxie Invitational today. Trevor Witt won the 7th grade boys' race, and Job Kliewer was 4th. In the junior high girls' race, Kira Burmaster was 3rd, and Misty Kliewer was 4th. Misty finished the 2022 season medaling in every single meet this year. That is seven medals in seven races. Congratulations to all of the Junior High Red Devils and their coaches: Gannon Reichert and Brandon Gehring - football; Janene Larson and Brooke Breth - volleyball; and Jenee Davis - cross country.

Flu vaccines will be administered by the Decatur County Health Department during the school day on October 19, 2022. If you would like for your student to receive the flu vaccine, please have your student pick up a consent form in the school office and return by October 18, 2022 with a copy of the student's insurance card. If a flu consent is not received the vaccine will not be administered.

Congratulations to our FFA Chapter! So far this year our Oberlin FFA students have placed second in Dodgeball, third in Greenhand Land Judging, and fifth in Senior Land Judging. A third place in Senior Land Judging would have qualified them for state, so it was very close. •Greenhand Land Judging Team: Theo Butterfield, Valentina Rodriguez, Mason Tally, and Cord Nichols. •Senior Land Judging Team: Theo Butterfield, Caden Shaw, Cowen Anderson, and Sophia Davis. (This is a team of one sophomore, one freshman, and two 8th graders going up against juniors and seniors!) •Dodgeball Team: Cord Nichols, Jordon Ruzicka, Arlan Coats, and Kyle Strohm. Congratulations to all that are growing this chapter.

I am continually blessed to be surrounded by such great kids. Thank you, DCHS Students, for a fun dance! We had the biggest crowd we've had in a long time. We also had several out-of-town guests who represented themselves, their schools, and their families so very well. Though the outcome of the game wasn't what we wanted, we still had a great week and a fun dance. Stay tuned for lots more pictures of Homecoming 2022. -- Mrs. Breth

These four girls have been hitting the payment selling ads for the 2023 yearbook. Yesterday we were in McCook, and today they will be back at it in Oberlin. We know businesses can do much more with their advertising dollars, but your donation helps keep yearbook prices down for students. The yearbook is for ALL students - not just athletes, musicians, or scholars, but for everyone! THANK YOU to all of the Oberlin businesses who support our DCHS students. We appreciate you. If Kamryn, Breyana, Addie, and Gabbie haven't been to see you yet, they will be by soon!
